Admittedly, I don't come from a very long history of Corvettes. As I had mentioned before, I had mainly been a Mustang guy before. Although I have always worked on Corvettes and had a great understanding of them in every facet, I have never understood why certain parts, namely exhaust systems, have been so outrageously expensive.
I was used to even the most expensive cat-back systems made completely of stainless costing no more than 600 bucks. For that 600 bucks, you get a mighty impressive box that is filled with tons of pipes, hangers, bends, clamps, gaskets and my favorite, bubble wrap. I never bought the el cheapo exhaust systems either, I was a bonified Borla addict. I installed a XR-1 race mufflered all stainless cat-back on my 96 Mustang. I put a Borla "Stinger" cat-back on my mom's 2003 Cobra. I even put a Borla cat-back on my lowly Focus. So fast forward to my searches online. The cheapest and best system (sound wise that I have heard) is the B&B Bullet "axle back" for the C6. For two 3 foot sections of pipe you pay anywhere from $950 to upwards of $1500 (depending on the system/manufacturer). This is pretty insane in my eyes.Hopefully the bubble wrap is still in the box.
