GM already has a hit on their hands as the Corvette ZR1 Supercharged LS9 has been nominated for the coveted International Engine of the Year Award.

The award is renowned in the industry and they're isn't a manufacturer in the world who wouldn't love have the International Engine of the Year trophy on their mantle.

The winner will be announced at Engine Expo 2008 on May 7 after the ballots from 62 automotive journalists from 30 countries are tallied. The competition for the LS9 will be tough as the ZR1 powerplant is going up against Nissan's 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 (the Nissan GT-R mill), Mitsubishi' 2.0-liter twin-turbo I4 (Mitsubishi EVO X), Audi's 5.2-liter V10 (Audi S8), and BMW's 4.0-liter V8 (BMW M3).

Good luck GM - Corvette Fever is pulling for you!
