While taking a breather from getting your over-the-winter Vette project done...or if you're just counting the (too many!) days until you roll your Corvette out into the sunshine again...here's some Vettes that readers like you have shared with us, ones worth another look.

So what if the plates don't "exactly" say 'USA 001'?

See America’s First!

’66 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe

While writing out a speeding ticket, the nice California Highway Patrol officer who stopped me asked me how I received the license plate USA 001 (USA zero zero one) from the California Department of Motor Vehicles? I replied that my ’66 Sting Ray’s plates—which replaced the original gold-on-black “black plates” that were issued by the DMV when the car was new-- contain all letters (USA OOI), and no numbers. Thus informed of what was on the 1970’s-issued “blue plates,” the CHP officer then handed me the completed speeding ticket and said, "Try to keep it UNDER 100 mph!”

If one Corvette isn't enough, how about three...especially these three!

Triple Delight

Bob & Karen Smith
Palm Harbor, Florida
’61 Corvette, ’63 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe, ’67 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible

My wife Karen and I have been collecting Corvettes for the last 10 years. After raising our three sons and 30 years of marriage, we can finally enjoy a luxury we’ve always loved (Corvettes).

My wife’s favorite is the 1961. It is Ermine White with Sateen Silver coves. It’s one of 118 with the 283/275 fuelie, and one of 442 with a power top. It has 62,000 original miles and documents to the original owner. It earned Top Flight, Bloomington Gold, and Triple Crown in 2007.

I’ve always loved the ’63 split-window coupe. I found a Red/Black 327/340, rebuilt the engine and put in a new interior, and it is now pristine.

My favorite, from  the last year of the C2 Sting Ray, is my 1967 silver/black 427/435. It has the original tank sticker, rebuilt original motor and rare heavy-duty J56 brakes. It Top Flighted in January of 2008.
