Due to a refined focus of work on core products, resources at General Motors High Performance Vehicle Operations (H.P.V.O.) have been temporarily reassigned. HPVO created such products as the V-Series Cadillacs, the Chevrolet Cobalt SS and the HHR SS. GM states that when market conditions and public demand for high performance or specialty vehicles change in the future, General Motors will return these resources to their original tasks. Vince Muniga, Manager of Global Product Communications for Passenger Cars stated when asked if the demise of H.P.V.O. meant the end of the road for such vehicles as the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, he replied "No. You've got the Camaro SS coming out. It is not threatened at all. The Camaro SS, Corvette ZR1 and Corvette Z06 are all regularly engineered cars," Muniga explained. "They did not go through HPVO. Most people did not realize that. They are safe."
