Now you can stop on a dime with a new power brake assembly for First Generation Corvettes from Jim Meyer Racing Products. The new assembly fits in the stock location without firewall or hood modifications. The new unit is compatible with stock manual drum brakes or any of their IFS kits, or large aftermarket First Gen disc brake kits (disc-disc or disc-drum) or any of the new Jim Meyer ‘53-62 Corvette chassis packages.
Bolted to the stock firewall mounting holes, the kit places the master cylinder and booster forward of the firewall via their standard extension tube and new longer pushrod. A special pivot-arm bracket lowers the master cylinder and double-diaphragm 7-inch booster below the hood line for a smooth fit. The ratioed pivot-arm bracket gives you a higher pedal with less travel for a quicker more predictable stop. Jim also offers a compatible brake line kit that allows you to splice into your stock brake lines for minimal plumbing to the new dual-chamber master cylinder. Only a 3/8-inch i.d. vacuum hose is required from the intake manifold. Rochester fuel injected cars will need to remove their air cleaner and use a remote mounted air cleaner.
