The end of February brought a good turnout of Vettes to VIP Corvettes and Accessories' shop in Sorrento, Florida for a "Grand Opening" Open House, an adjunct to their monthly "Corvettes & Coffee" cruise-in.
Though the turnout featured mostly C5s and C6s, there were some earlier-model Vettes on hand, including a '54 Corvette that its owners (Lee and Joy Adams, from Yalaha, Florida) parked next to their new ZR1, producing a "Blue Devil meets Blue Flame" photo-op.
By the way, the Adams' purchased their '54, along with a '66 Sting Ray, at the recent Mecum collector-car auction in Kissimmee, Florida (the same weekend as the regional NCRS show).
Also on hand was the C5 of Steve Jones of Kissimmee, whose color scheme and graphics replicated the C5Rs that Corvette Racing campaigned in the American LeMans Series (including the 12 Hours of Sebring), the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as at the 24 Hours of LeMans.
The weather was top-down perfect as Vettes rolled in and out of the showfield on State Road 46, right next to the VIP Corvettes and Accessories shop.
Club turnout was very good, with members of Vettes R Us, Classic Corvettes of Orlando and Citrus County Corvettes among the clubs whose membrs (and Corvettes) were on hand.
As mentioned above, "Corvettes and Coffee" is a monthly event, with the next one coming up on Saturday, March 14th, starting at 9 a.m. Get more information about it--and VIP Corvettes and Accessories--when you visit their website, www.vipcorvettes.com(Special thanks to Doug Boldman and Larry Estep of Corvettes R Us for their photos!)
