A couple of posts ago, we mentioned the Rolex Monterey Historic races. They're one of the nearly two dozen events on and around Northern California's  Monterey Peninsula that Corvette lovers from around the world enjoy each year in mid-August.

Now, add Mecum Auctions' latest collector-car auction to the list of events that weekend (which also include the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance).

Mecum's Monterey Auction will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2009, from 12-5 p.m.(Pacific Time) at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa on the Del Monte Golf Course.  The one-day auction will feature 100 extraordinary cars up for bid.
     
"Mecum Auction is starting a new chapter in our exhilarating company history book by expanding
into new market areas," said President Dana Mecum.  "Although we have specialized in muscle cars, our expert team is extremely knowledgeable about selling exotic sports cars, classics and other high-end collector vehicles.  In fact, Mecum was selling world-class Ferraris in the late '80s.

Cars will be displayed outside the Hyatt Regency Monterey's beautiful, centrally located site while the bidding arena will be staged in a 10,000-square-foot ballroom.

"The convenient location of the facility and our decision to create a Saturday afternoon auction
from noon to 5 p.m. will fit nicely into the week's schedule for bidders and attendees," Mecum
said, adding they will also host a pre-auction brunch the morning of the sale.
