What was the car that inspired ALL racing Corvettes to follow? (HINT: "SR" options )

We've got one of 'em on the cover of the September issue of Corvette Fever.

This one.

Thanks to a memo by Zora Arkus-Duntov at a time when the Corvette faced cancellation, Chevrolet began getting serious about transforming the Vette from a Motorama styling excercise to America's Only True Sports Car.

This '56 Vette is loaded with factory-installed "SR" options.

Our September cover story shows you this '56 Corvette that's loaded with factory installed and documented "SR" options, like the dual-quad 265 with the "Duntov" cam, and those magnesium Halibrand wheels you see on the car. It's the great-great-great-grandfather of the C6.R, and we've got its story in our September issue.
