Investigating a P.I.'s Ride

Scott's been watching too many old movies again

If the 1955 film-noir thriller Kiss Me Deadly hits the small screen again, there's some researching that I've got to do....

That involves the Corvette that private eye Mike Hammer (Ralph Meeker) is seen driving in that vintage flick, mostly shot on locations in/around L.A. of the mid-50s.

This one's a '55, evidenced by the big "V" in the "Corvette" script. (Courtesy GM/ Wieck Media Services)

The reason? Was Hammer's Vette a Blue Flame Six-powered '54, or a V8-powered '55?

You can't tell from the sound track, as it sounds like the sound editor used a recording of a Jaguar XK120 for Hammer's two-seat Chevy.
