You asked...and here's another look at some Vettes featured in "Your Ride In The Sporlight" in the pages of Corvette Fever.
This time, we've got a second "First" Corvette...and a two-of-a-kind pair of Vettes.
Two Of A KindJack AlessandroFlorence, Kentucky’63 Sting Ray coupe, ’03 50th Anniversary Edition coupe
I bought the '63 Riverside Red split window coupe three years ago, and just about have it completed back to all-matching-numbers. The 327/340-powered four-speed Split Window has 34,510 miles on it most of which are driving to cruise-ins every weekend. After almost three years of searching for original parts, manifolds, and a Carter AFB carb, and replacing all four main wiring harnesses, I can say that I'm almost done. The next thing to do is a fresh paint job.The 2003 50th Anniversary Special Edition coupe is a complete joy to drive. Going from one to the other has its moments--one has all power options while the other has none! How far Corvette has come can only be appreciated when you have cars that are 40 years apart, and both of them are still amazing to drive.
A Second “First” Vette
Rich BulmerHubbard, Ohio1981 Corvette
In the spring of 1975, I bought a new '75 Corvette. Eventually, I sold it to get married, buy a house and raise a family. I had no problem doing that, hoping one day I could get another Vette. I’d known about this car for about ten years. The owner got into Harleys, and had parked this car for four years. One day, I had a friend of his ask if it was for sale. He told me to come look at it, I took it for a ride, and took it home that night.
It is a late-production '81 with only 56,000 miles on it. As you can see, it also has its original two-tone paint and mirrored T-tops on it. This car was built in the Bowling Green plant, making it one of the first Vettes be built there.
