The engineer who led the Corvette Team through its progression from C3 to C4...and its move from St. Louis to Bowling Green...will be at Mid America Motorworks' Corvette Funfest this coming September 27-29.
Former Corvette Chief Engineer Dave McLellan will be a featured guest during the 16th annual Corvette Funfest, held on the corporate campus of Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois.
After the retirement of Zora Arkus-Duntov at the end of 1974, Dave McLellan took over as the second-ever Corvette Chief Engineer, and led the new generation of C4 into the market. He was instrumental in launching the Corvette Challenge Race Series in 1988. A showcase for the Corvette’s performance, the series provided a convenient venue for final development of his most prized achievement, the Corvette ZR-1. A National Corvette Museum Hall of Famer, Dave retired from General Motors in 1992. The author of Corvette From the Inside, a critical and historic view of the Chevrolet Corvette from a hard-core, engineering perspective, he now enjoys attending Corvette events throughout the country.
