It was the Sixties, the most tumultuous decade perhaps in the history of mankind, and this 1960 Corvette, the first Corvette of the Sixties, Serial # 0001, saw it all unfold. The lineage certainly started off in high style: fittingly finished in the timeless combination of Ermine White with a White top and Red interior, the car is also equipped with the best powertrain available, the fuel-injected 290-horsepower 283 V-8 with a 4-speed manual transmission. Other options include the signal-seeking AM radio and wide whitewall tires that add an extra touch of elegance to the classic color scheme.

Presented as Lot S60 (click here for details), this Corvette is scheduled to cross the block at approximately 1:25 PM Eastern on Saturday, June 27 - in front of a live national TV audience on HD Theater, Discovery Communication’s premier high-definition network. Watch your e-mail for more special car announcements.

The Mecum Auction Company has been specializing in the sale of collector cars, muscle cars and Corvettes for more than 20 years.  In spring 2008, the company sold its 50,000th car.  Consignment, Bidder, event and accommodation information is available online at www.Mecum.com or by calling 815.568.8888.
