Do VetteRods get you "Hot Blooded"...or give you "Double Vision?"
We're not playing "Head Games" with you here....this C1 vetteRod is going up for bids at Mecum's St. Charles (IL) auction, October 1-4.
Powerhouse singer/songwriter Lou Gramm is best known as the lead vocalist and co-writer with the multi-platinum-selling band Foreigner. A successful solo artist in his own right, Lou is also a self-described lifelong musclecar fanatic whose favorite summer pastime is cruising to the local restaurant parking lot and sharing a social evening with other like-minded owners. Mecum Performance Auction is very pleased to present this 1962 Corvette convertible that has been one of Mr. Gramm’s favorite street machines for the past fifteen years. Finished in Tuxedo Black with Black top and interior, it is the show-stopping result of a frame-off restoration on a clean no-hit example.
At first glance, the car appears to be completely stock, with the tasteful addition of a gleaming set of American Torq-Thrust D wheels, but lifting the hood reveals the presence of another kind of powerhouse...a GM ZZ3 350 cubic inch, 4-bolt main crate engine. With aluminum heads, dual-plane aluminum intake, high lift roller cam, forged steel crank and rods and high-compression hypereutectic pistons, the ZZ3 is particularly well-suited to the C2 Vette, especially when backed with this one’s 4-speed manual. The chromed open-element air cleaner and ceramicoat headers are especially nice finishing touches in the well detailed engine compartmentA fine example of a mild Resto-mod treatment on a solid original, this immaculate ’62 Corvette is also equipped with a classic Wonderbar radio and comes with both soft and hard tops. In addition, the original matching-numbers 327/250 HP V-8 is also available.
