Thought this would grab your attention...and (if you're going to Mecum's St. Charles (IL) auction October 1-4) your bidding interest.

This 1968 Corvette L71 convertible is nicely finished in red and presents particularly well. Restored from the ground up, the car has all the ingredients that made it such a formidable machine to begin with, including the professionally rebuilt Tri Power 427, Muncie M-21 4-speed and 4.11 Positraction rear axle.

This is a superbly finished car, a prime pick for the serious C3 big-block enthusiast. It runs and handles excellent and sounds even better when you open those tri-power carbs and let her run!

Highlights:

- 427/435 HP  L71 engine with aluminum heads
(numbers matching - freshly rebuilt by professional BBC engine builder)
- 4-speed M-21 transmission and 4.11 Positraction rear end (numbers matching)
- Body-off restoration including original frame
- 83,000 actual miles
- New suspension, brakes, SS exhaust, aluminum radiator
- Power steering and power brakes
- AM/FM radio
- Two tops (Black soft top and Red hardtop)
