Coming Distractions: Setting The Example

1966 Sting Ray, NCRS, A.I.R. pump

What is an "Example" Corvette? And what does California have to do with it? You'll find out when you read the feature on this special Sting Ray...only in the December Corvette Fever.

There's more to this '66 Sting Ray than its Nassau Blue finish!

Bill Usher's L36-powered '66 is no mere Chevy...nor just another NCRS Top Flight car. It's an "example" car used by NCRS' judges during judging seminars, where master judges go around and show participants the finer points of a chosen Vette, and its restoration.

That thing that looks like an alternator on the front of the engine ain't...it's the RPO K19 A.I.R. pump.

One big reason that Bill's Sting Ray was picked for that honor is the restored and functional RPO K19 Air Injector Reactor (A.I.R.) pump on the front of its 390-horsepower 427, a required option on California-registered Vettes back then..

Bill Usher's '66 Sting Ray is just like it came from St. Louis, inside and out.

Also in December's Corvette Fever: Alan Colvin takes Keisler's new T45-85 for a test drive...a classic solution for insuring your Corvette...and two 427-powered '68s.
