GM PERFORMANCE PARTS AT BARRETT-JACKSON PALM BEACH

GM Performance Parts (GMPP) will be on hand during the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction, April 1-3, with an informative display of cars and crate engines. The centerpiece is the unique Reggie Jackson 1969 Camaro – a classic-styled car with thoroughly modern performance.  The vehicle is on loan to GMPP from current owner Rick Hendrick.

The red Reggie Jackson Camaro – which has seen plenty of road miles, including a stint on the Hot Rod Power Tour – is powered by a prototype LSX454 engine that was used to validate the new GMPP LSX454 production crate engine, part number 19244611.

“This Camaro is a great example of how we design and test our products for the real world,” said Dr. Jamie Meyer, product marketing manager for GM Performance Parts. “Our engineers didn’t limit their tests to the lab; they wrung it out on the street and strip to make sure the production engine would deliver the performance and durability customers expect.”

The LSX454 crate engine uses the LSX Bowtie cylinder block with an all-forged, super-tough rotating assembly and features a pair of GMPP’s new, deep-breathing LSX six-bolt cylinder heads. It also comes dressed with great-looking, orange powder-coated valve covers with engraved “LSX454” logos. When used with the recommended intake manifold and carburetor, it
is rated at 620 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque.

Also in the GM Performance Parts display is a broad range of crate engines and performance components, ranging from economical 350 small-blocks to race-ready 572-cube big-blocks – and the latest in LS engines and parts. The LS lineup includes the new E-ROD emissions-compliant crate engine package, which includes emissions-related equipment with a 430-horsepower LS3 engine, enabling classic cars and new, special construction vehicles to deliver emissions comparable to a new Camaro SS.

“No matter the engine size or horsepower rating, all of our crate engines share a very important trait: They’re all brand-new engines – not rebuilds or remains,” said Dr. Meyer. “And you don’t have to have a six-figure budget to enjoy the benefits of our brand-new engines; our new 350/290HP Deluxe carries an MSRP of only $2,900.”

Based on the popular 350/290HP long block-style engine package, the new 350/290 HP Deluxe – part number 19244450 – includes a strong, all-new cylinder block with four-bolt mains, a high-flow intake manifold, chrome valve covers, chrome air cleaner, chrome timing chain cover, chrome breather cap, along with the necessary hardware, gaskets and installation instructions. GMPP recommends using a Holley 670-cfm carburetor (GMPP number 19170092) to achieve the rated power levels of 290 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 332 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,750 rpm.

“Like all of our engines, the 350/290HP was engineered as a powerful and cost-effective alternative to rebuilding,” said Dr. Meyer.

The new LSX454 and 350/290 HP Deluxe crate engines – and hundreds of other engines and parts – are available for ordering at www.performanceparts.com, or through any authorized GMPP retailer or GM parts dealer.

GM Performance Parts – tested to the limits, backed by GM

GM Performance Parts crate engines undergo a 50-hour, full-throttle engine dynamometer validation that requires the engines perform from peak horsepower to peak torque. GMPP also installs crate engines in its own engineering vehicles for testing and continuous improvement. That commitment to quality and durability enables General Motors to back GM Performance Parts crate engines with a 24-month/50,000-mile warranty (whichever occurs first). All GM Performance Parts components carry a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty.

Enthusiasts who crave the latest technology, maximum horsepower and the expertise and confidence backed by GM, can purchase GMPP crate engines, blocks, heads, high-performance transmissions and components from GMPP Authorized Center dealers or any other GM dealership nationwide.
