Coming Distractions: Back From The Wilds

During the '60s a lot of servicemen drove America's Only True Sports Car while off-duty...and June's Corvette Fever has the story of one of them--a split-window who's travels you have to read about to believe!

Those are the original heads and Carter AFB carburetor on the restored RPO L76 340-horse 327.

For years, the U.S. Air Force's Strategic Air Command (SAC) was the most visible element of our nation's nuclear-deterrence program. (One false move by the wrong guys, and SAC B-52s were headed their way pronto.)

During Arnold Yuen's tour of duty with SAC, he scored this '63 split-window, but he had to leave it in less-than-ideal long-term storage. June's Corvette Fever has the story of this Midyear, its travels, and how Arnold restored it to the trophy-winner you see here.

Restored to showroom new inside, too. (With an OEM-style shiffter replacing the Hurst since this photo was taken.)

You'll also find features on three other rare-and-distinctive Vettes...Rich Lagasse's latest on securing your trailer....how to pick the right Corvette shop for repair, resto or VetteRodding work...and much more.
